Our mission for our non-profit organization, “Get Up & Fight For a Cure,” is to honor the memory of my beautiful Mother, Glenda B. Fredell, by providing support and resources to local cancer patients undergoing treatment. We strive to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families by offering financial assistance, grants, educational and counseling resources, and other forms of support. Our goal is to empower cancer patients to live their lives with dignity and hope, and to provide them with the resources they need to fight cancer with courage and strength.

Get Up & Fight for a Cure: Empowering Warriors in the Battle Against Cancer

Losing a loved one to cancer is a devastating experience that leaves an indelible mark on our lives. My mother, a true warrior, fought cholangiocarcinoma, also known as Bile Duct Cancer, with unwavering faith, immense courage, and incredible strength for 16 months, she faced this formidable opponent head-on, inspiring everyone around her.

Although she passed away on April 4, 2023, her legacy lives on through a promise I made to her – to continue living with purpose and intentionality while helping others on their cancer journey. Thus, the birth of Get Up & Fight for a Cure, an initiative aimed at supporting and empowering those warriors battling the invisible enemy known as cancer.

Faith, Courage, and Strength: Throughout her battle, my mother exemplified extraordinary faith, which became her guiding light even in the darkest of times. She taught us to trust in a higher power, find solace in prayer, and believe in the possibilities beyond medical prognosis. Her unwavering courage served as an inspiration, allowing her to face each day with determination, regardless of the hurdles. Despite the physical and emotional toll, her strength never wavered, demonstrating the resilience and power that exists within each one of us.

Helping Others on the Journey: Witnessing the challenges faced by individuals and their families when navigating the uncharted territories of cancer, I was moved to create Get Up & Fight for a Cure. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive avenue of faith, hope, education, resources, advocacy, and financial assistance to those battling cancer. By sharing our stories, experiences, and knowledge, we want to create a support network that offers comfort, guidance, and empowerment to individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Avenue of Faith, Hope, and Education: At Get Up & Fight for a Cure, we believe that faith and hope play a vital role in the healing process. We provide a platform for individuals to share their stories of hope and triumph, offering inspiration to those in need of encouragement. Additionally, we strive to educate the community about different types of cancer, their symptoms, treatment options, and advancements in medical research. By fostering awareness and understanding, we empower individuals to make informed decisions and take proactive steps in their battle against cancer.

Resources, Advocacy, and Financial Assistance: Cancer places an enormous burden on individuals and their families, both emotionally and financially. Recognizing this, Get Up & Fight for a Cure aims to be a resource hub, connecting individuals with support services, counseling, and practical assistance. We collaborate with healthcare professionals, patient support groups, and cancer organizations to ensure that those in need have access to the right resources.

Advocacy is another crucial aspect of our mission. We strive to raise awareness about cancer-related issues, advocate for better healthcare policies, and promote early detection and prevention strategies. By amplifying the voices of cancer patients and their families, we hope to effect positive change in the healthcare system and improve the overall cancer experience.

Furthermore, we understand the financial strain that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis. Through fundraising efforts and partnerships, we aim to provide financial assistance to individuals and families facing the burdensome costs of treatment, medication, and related expenses. No one should have to choose between their health and financial stability, and we are committed to alleviating this hardship.

Empowered Warriors My mother’s battle with cholangiocarcinoma taught me the importance of perseverance, compassion, and the strength that can be found in unity. Get Up & Fight for a Cure is my promise to her and an embodiment of her spirit – to support, empower, and uplift those who face the challenges of cancer. Through faith, hope, education, we will help others Get Up & Fight for a Cure!
